Valentines!

Happy Valentines Day!! Ok really I've never been a big fan of Valentines day. Well when I was little I loved handing out my treats and my mom always made the day so fun but now that I'm old I'm not a huge fan. I think its great that we are showing each other that we love them but shouldn't we be doing that every day not just one day out of the year. Valentines probably causes some good fights too. What!! You didn't get me this, Where are my flowers? lol Ross and I are pretty low key when it comes to Valentines day. He knows flowers aren't expected but always gets me some. He knows if he does get me flowers not to spend a lot on them. Don't get me wrong I love flowers but to spend a lot of money on something that will die a week later isn't want I want our money going to! We use to go out to eat but now that we have Jackson we make a nice dinner at home. Honestly I like this better. Its fun to decorated the table put on some music and eat as a family. I was thinking this year that I want to make Valentine more of a family holiday. Thats what my parents did and I loved it.

This year for Valentines Jackson and I were invited to go to the children's museum with some friends while our husbands were at school. Jackson loved running around and doing all the different things they had. Most the stuff he was to young to do by himself but he enjoyed it anyway!

I wish this picture wasn't so dark, I think my camera strap was over the flash. This was one of Jackson favorite things. Its a tornado simulator. Jackson would run over and try and put his hand in it.

Riding on the police bike!

Again its dark.. But this has to be one of my favorite pictures. This is Jackson dancing with all the older black boys. I think it so funny that Jackson is usually one of the only white kids around. The boys loved dancing with Jackson and were trying to teach him some of their dance moves! By the way their dance moves were pretty good for only being 8 :)

Jackson would have staid and fished the entire day but he would splash in the water and was getting all went so we had to leave that area!

Jackson flying the Fedex plane

Ross did come home with flower. I totally wasn't expecting them because he was at school the entire day but I guess him and another guy went at lunch and got some flowers. I sure am a lucky girl. I love my two boys.

Family picture while eating dinner.

I'm sure Jacksons favorite part! Valentines package from Grandpa and Grandma

And from Oma and Opa! He had to have a sucker from both!

B-town friends in Memphis

It was so good to see some of my friends from Bountiful the other day. There are a few of us that have moved to the south but just live far enough away from each other that its a little trip to go and see each other. Sunday Ritz and her cute family came to Memphis to visit! We all went over to Trent's house and ate dinner and just hung out. Josh and Jackson hit it right off and literally ran around the house playing the whole time. They were so cute together. I wish they lived closer so we could play more often.

This picture makes me laugh. They are both watching movies on iphones/ipods while they rest. Our kids are growing in a totally different world then we did. (I'm sure our parents said that too) Actually I ready this post on facebook that says it all. (posted below picture) Its kinda long but it made me laugh. I'm sure we will be saying the same thing in twenty years.

For all of you old People!!!

This one’s been around before but it’s worth bragging about how we made it.
No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us, WE ARE AWESOME !!! OUR Lives are LIVING PROOF !!! To Those of Us Born 1925 - 1970:

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s!! First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, we wereput to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads. As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.. Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. --And, we were OKAY. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.. We did not have Play Stations, Nintendo’s and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs, no surround-sound or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from those accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse. We ate worms, and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, 22 rifles for our 12th, rode horses, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and -although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever. The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are one of those born between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. While you are at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

I recently found out that Jackson LOVES grapefruit! I was eating one for lunch the other day and he came over asking for some, I gave it to him thinking it would come right back out but to my surprise he liked it and kept wanting more. Then next day I decided that I would give him some with his lunch. He ate half a grapefruit with the rest of his lunch and still want more! I didn't give him anymore because I didn't want to get him sick and Jackson had a little meltdown. He cried for a good five minutes and tried to open the fridge to get more out. I just left him there like the great mom I am and continued on with what I was doing. I realized about ten minutes later that Jackson was being really quiet and I hadn't seen him for awhile. (Thats when you know somethings wrong lol) I walk around the corner to find him like this...
He had somehow gotten the grapefruit out of the garbage can and was squeezing the rest of the juice out and liking it haha He just looked at me and smiled and went back to licking his sticky hands!

Pop Rocks

The other day Jackson and I were at the dollar store and I saw pop rocks and had to have them! I remember thinking they were so cool when I was little. I still don't know how they work but it doesn't really matter because they are a popping candy, tast yummy and thats all that matters to me! Anyway I got home and opened the bag to see this little package...

Whats wrong with this picture? Look where the slit is to open the package! haha My first thought was: Well at least they aren't trying to hide anything. They come right out and say: "hey, don't mind ripping at the top, you're only going to get a quarter of this package full of candy so might as well rip the package open way down here" I hate that everything you buy these days is never full. Why do you sale a huge bag when you are only going to fill it half way. Anyway I loved this little bag!

Call me a mean mom but I gave Jackson some of the pop rocks and it was so funny! I wish I would have had my camera at the first but these pictures are still pretty classic!

In they go..

What the heck are these!

Mom, there is something wrong with this candy

Freak.. I'll just spit them out!

Jackson and the bookcase

So can I tell you how many times I wish I could go to the D.I or get on KSL and look for some that I need but don't want to spend a lot on. One of those times would now. Ross has more and more books coming home after every semester that he wants to keep and we don't have anywhere to put them. I have been going crazy with them stalking up in the corner of our room. I wanted to get a bookcase but didn't want to spend a lot because 1: we will be moving in a year and a half and 2: When we move back we most likely will be putting all our stuff in a storage unit for eight months while Ross does his externships. So given all of that I've been on a search for a cheap bookcase. The Salvation Army you would think would be cheap.. Nope and Craigslist scares me :) So do where do I go after all of those.. Good old Walmart! I am happy to say that we found a great $15 bookcase there! Jackson loved helping Ross put it together and hiding in it as we tried to put the back on.

Jackson got out his tool set and started helping but quickly realized that dads hammer was better and traded!

Random happenings

Not much has been happening here in the mid south. Its pretty boring when its cold outside and we can't go and do anything. I think both Jackson and I are going crazy in the house all day. Jackson has been sick this last week so we are extra crazy cause we can't go a visit anyone either. For sake of my sister asking for a update here are some pictures!

It snowed one day, it lasted about two hours and this was the max snow we got but I still wanted to see how Jackson would react being in the snow so I took him out.

He was confused and seemed to not care much for it. It also was pretty windy and Jackson hates the wind so he was ready to go in after a couple minutes.

Jackson is always climbing/standing on everything and anything. Last week his balance got the best of him and he had a nice goose egg.

Recently Jackson has loved trying on mine and Ross's shoes. Here's a picture of him in daddy's shoes.

Signing out until something exciting happens :)
